By Zach Batia
Police arrested a man Friday afternoon after he drove his SUV through Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, according to multiple news outlets.
The incident is not believed to be a terrorist attack, and police believe it is possible that the man was experiencing a medical or mental issue, according to local media outlet WGN.
Three people were hospitalized for non-serious issues but no major injuries or deaths occurred, according to the WGN report.
The vehicle initially drove into a Sears store connected to the mall before continuing into the shopping center itself. The loud crashing noises and sounds of breaking glass inspired panic and fears of an active shooter, according to MSN.
Police later confirmed the man was alone and ruled out gunshots or any other additional violence. The incident remains under investigation.
