Trump administration officials stated wednesday that measures were being planned to ban the sale of all fruit flavored e-cigarette products, the New York Times reports.

The Food and Drug Administration plans to develop a strategy for the parameters of the enforcement of the ban within the next "several weeks," according to a report from CNN. The ban should then become effective following a standard 30-day delay, according to health and human services secretary Alex M. Azar II, via the CNN report.

The ban would effectively remove all flavors of electronic nicotine products from stores, including mint and menthol, save for tobacco flavored variants. Fruit flavored e-cigarette products have become especially popular among teens.

The announcement of the ban follows news of a sixth death in the United States thought to be caused by electronic nicotine and cannabis products. Hundreds of illnesses attributed to vaping have also been reported.
