National news - Altuve walk off home run sinks Yankees as Astros advance to World Series

Five-foot six-inch superstar Jose Altuve's bottom of the ninth home run walked off the New York Yankees Saturday night as the Houston Astros advanced to their second World Series in three years.

Altuve's two run blast off Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman marked a return to baseball's largest stage for the 2017 champs.

The Astros face exceedingly high expectations in their next challenge against the underdog Washington Nationals, whose franchise player, Bryce Harper, jumped ship to Philadelphia in free agency last summer.

Houston's rise to prominence has been criticized heavily due to their dynamic core having largely been acquired via tanking, as the team willingly endured six consecutive losing campaigns from 2009-14 in order to acquire high draft picks and star caliber players, according to NBC.

"We're not going to the World Series because of me," said Altuve according to mlb.com. "We're going to the World Series because of everybody inside the clubhouse."
