National news - Former US ambassador to Ukraine says Trump wanted her removed despite "doing nothing wrong"

Former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovich said in a testimony to House officials Friday that President Trump ordered her recall due to a "lack of trust" despite one of her bosses telling her she had "done nothing wrong," according to the New York Times.

Yovanovich has become a critical figure in the impeachment inquiry being conducted against Trump by House Democrats due to the shady nature of her removal from her post.

Yovanovich alleges a campaign against her perpetrated by Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani was initiated because two Americans, who would later become associates of Giuliani in digging up dirt in Ukraine against Trump political rivals, wanted her gone. The two Americans in question were arrested earlier this week.

The Trump administration had attempted to prevent Yovanovich from delivering her testimony, but she appeared after receiving a last minute subpoena, according to Vox.

Yovanovich had served six presidents prior to her removal.
