The University of Minnesota football team earned a spot in the AP top 25 poll for the first time in five years following a perfect 6-0 start to the season.

The gophers earned the 20th overall spot in the nation after a decisive 34-7 win over Big 10 foe Nebraska on Saturday.

This marks the first time the Gophers have been ranked during head coach PJ Fleck's tenure. The teams 6-0 start makes them one of 12 remaining FBS teams yet to record a loss, according to the Star Tribune.

The #20 spot is the highest the team has been ranked since 2008, according to the Pioneer Press.

The gophers next two games will also come against Big 10 foes. Fleck's squad plays Rutgers in New Jersey Saturday before returning home to take on Maryland the following week.
